MEMBER | Rogue Application - Cogwhirl

Postby Guest » Tue Aug 11, 2009 1:14 am

PLEASE NOTE: This is a joint application with my wife, Otta. We enjoy playing WoW together and this would obviously be difficult if we were not in the same guild, so this application is made on the assumption that both of us would be taken into the guild, even if that means not always raiding together. Thanks for understanding.

SERENITY APPLICATION FORM

Instructions:

- Please check the list of classes we are recruiting at the Class/Recruitment Availability
- Copy and paste this form into a new thread in the Recruitment forums.
- Truthfully answer ALL of the questions in the application. Incomplete applications will be denied on sight!

Before you even bother, have you read our guild rules and goals? Does it corresponds to what you are looking for?

(X) YES ( ) NO Note: by ticking YES, you agree to follow the guild charter.

In game name (including previous names if any): Cogwhirl

Age: 28

From: Staffordshire in England

Class and build:
(This is the class and specc we expect you to be raiding with. No main-alt changing and no specc changing without approval from your Class Leader. You can bring all your alts in
the guild if you want, but this will be the character/specc that will be invited into raids.)

Rogue, with my preferred spec of Mutiliate (51/13/7). I enjoy it as I find it much more involving than Combat specs. When fully raid-buffed I can reach up to 5-7k DPS on "stand and stab" fights. When raid-buffed my hit rating is 280 and my crit is about 47% - can't remember my AP off the top of my head, though unbuffed it is 3631.

Dual Spec: (Please state which 2nd spec you have with the new dual-spec system and comment your gear for it).

I also have a Sword Combat spec (18/53/0), but it's mainly unused and was considering switching it to Maces if I lay my hands on a suitable MH.

Link to your Armory, CTProfiles, or RPGOutfitters page? (If you are not using your raiding specc because of PvP or whatever reason, please link the raiding specc you will be using):

Former guilds (on Bronzebeard or on your current realm):
My first guild was Angels From Hell (the second-best guild on the server pre-TBC), who I joined when Cog was somewhere in his level 20s, not long after I started playing a few years ago. In TBC the guild split and reformed as Affinity.

Why did you leave your former guilds?:
I have never left a guild before Affinity since it was a reformation of Angels From Hell. I'm leaving Affinity as it no longer has the spirit it once had, and I'm looking to start anew. Note that the Armoury currently shows me as still being in Affinity at the time of this app, but I have left the guild already - it just needs time to update, I guess.

What is your former raid experience (pre-TBC, TBC, WotLK)?
Pre-TBC: All raid instances up to C'Thun, and one foray into Naxx-40 just before TBC hit.
TBC: All raid instances and bosses up to Archimonde in Mount Hyjal and Reliquary of Souls in Black Temple.
WotLK: Naxx 10/25 cleared, Malygos 10/25 cleared, Sartharion 10 and Sartharion + 2 drakes on 25-man, Ulduar 25-man up to Yogg-Saron. I've not really bothered with Ulduar 10-man.

Also killed the first boss in the Trial of the Crusader (25-man normal), as my shiny off-hand dagger will attest to :).

Why do you want to join Serenity?
I enjoy raiding and want to join a guild that is understanding of real-life whilst still being dedicated to downing the latest bosses. According to your Guild Charter, that sounds like precisely what you offer :)

Do you have open applications to other guilds?
Nope.

Any member in Serenity that can vouch for you?
I had a browse of the guild list on the Armory, but the only name I know of is Frung, who was in Angels from Hell (or possibly when it was Affinity) for a while. Top man, great singing voice :)

The important questions now. Please take a moment to think about those before you answer.

This is probably the most important question. We are a raiding guild, and even though we do not force anyone into raiding, we are expecting players that will join us to show interest in raiding at least 2-3 days each week.

Can you play at our official raiding times which are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 9pm - 1am server time?
Currently I can make Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I'm a Christian, so that means Sundays will always be a nogo for me. The other three raids I have no reason not to be able to attend.

Can you log on to the Serenity website and sign up on the raid calendar each week whether you can attend raids or not?
Yes, that's exactly what I was already doing in Affinity.

Do you intend to show up for raids prepared, PVE raid specced, repaired, enchanted, gemmed and with a minimum set of buffs (food buffs and potions/flasks)?

Once again, that's exactly what I was already doing. I realise it's a frustration for both officers and other raid members to wait on another player while they get flasks etc, so I'm normally ready and at the instance at least ten minutes before the raid start time.

I have a mage with Alchemy (with Elixir Specialisation) who can make the flasks for me, and Cog is a 450 cook with all the cooking recipes you can buy in Dalaran, so I can be fairly self-sufficient.

We are using a Zero-Sum DKP system, do you agree with this? (X) YES ( ) NO

(X) I have read the Forum sticky: Intro to Serenity

Great application.

Can I assume my replying here will also be read by Otta?

If we had those applications 2 weeks ago, we would have recruited you in a heartbeat. I am quite sure we could add a rogue and a resto druid to our current roster to have a better class balance, and I fail to find anything wrong with your applications really (except the gnome part... our healers don't heal gnomes).

The only thing I would like you to be aware, is that while we would have welcomed you a few weeks ago, since patch 3.2 arrived, we now have 40+ players online every night, and lots of players wanting to raid. We ought to give our current member some sort of priority, so raid spots may be hard to get by for initiates.

That being said, I am sure in a few weeks, a lot of players will suddenly have <insert lame excuse to stop raiding because they got most of the gear they wanted and don't want to wipe when it gets harder>, so we are always looking for good, reliable players. In general, those that sticks around, are reliable and are performing well tend to quickly become regular raiders that are drafted over those flavor of the month/patch players.

With the way bosses are released, we are now anyways clearing the new content quite fast, so we end up going for some hard modes in Ulduar in 25man and often have a few 10man groups going for those as well on offnights. In general, those spots are more easy to come by. There is a lot of activity right now in general going on, from farming badges in Naxx10/heroics, doing daily heroic, doing ToC and some groups going for Ulduar10 hard modes left and right.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyways, just trying to give you an overall picture of the current situation so you would not come back in a week saying you weren't invited to a raid. I will let you decide whether you would like to join or not, as we will not denied such perfect applications.

Oh, and I am sure we could arrange a welcome song from Frung if you would be to join.

Hi Mikah,

Thanks for the reply. I'll talk to Otta irl when I get home from work later, and be in touch. Is there any particular person we should contact in-game if we accept, or should we just reply here and wait?

Thanks,

Cog

I'll try to discuss it a bit more with other officers first (I don't want to take this decision alone, at least not before others have a chance to voice any possible concerns), and meanwhile have a chat with Otta.

Try to contact me in-game and we can have a little chat and see where things are.

I thought we threw the Gnomes to the Feral Druids for Cat food.

We did! Turns out it's not so great with helping digesting fur balls, so it was too messy to clean up.

We switched back to another brand called "Hill Food" just after we killed Archimonde back in TBC.
