He he. Could have been me too. This week has been very boring. We got network trouble and none of my PC tools needed for work are running.
Only thing that actually work is surfing, so that's how I have been spending my week .

I'm trying to offer a service to companies that already has something in place, managed to land a couple of contracts but this week and the week before has been dead.

Even had to turn down a contract cause our company wouldnt of been able to manage the amount of work too...

Could be me too Still need to adjust to the changeg sleep rythmen. Especially after raiddays with 24 oclock sleeping time. On the plus side however work is fun so far, big ass factory with 200 or more pcs and stuff, and me together with another sysadmin fighting the daily pc troubles.

Oh how i missed a service pack for windows7 fail to install after 40minutes with a errormsg like 0700x7023, and then after doing some internet checking finding out the service pack just misses the right path to temp directory. Microsoft logic that

I'm looking forward (kinda) to getting Windows 7 on the school network next year instead of Win XP. Changing our network software to standard vanilla Windows Network too running on Win2k8, none of which I've had experience with. So if I sound like I want to commit suicide from September onwards, now you know why!

Ahahha, coggy, you need a bit of practice for all teh new options in win 2008 server, but it works great, use the r2 version 64 bit, service pack1, it is very fast and light, and if you use win7 64 bit as client you will have no probs.

With xp you have some problems on certificates and drivers share, most becouse xp is at 32 bit, nothing that is not fixable, but take some time to work around, while with 7 is all so fast to config .

Tomorrow deplyng a new 2008 r2 sp1 64 bit server to a customer plus some clients, network upgrade to lan gigabit with cisco and well this weekend i will sleep instead of going to disco

Tbh most of the 2k8 management will be someone else's job, I'll be managing the desktop side of things (Win 7 but 32-bit). We've got a test network up and running and have had for a few months to get our heads around it, but still, a ten PC test network is nothing compared to rolling it across the entire site of 700 or so computers and laptops
